How to Release Your Music

Prepare Your Release Folder

Create a new folder on your computer for this release. This will contain all the files needed for distribution.

Create metadata.txt File

Create a text file named metadata.txt with all your release information. Use the template below:

Add Cover Art

Include your cover art as coverart.jpg

  • Minimum resolution: 1800x1800 pixels
  • Format: JPG or PNG
  • Square aspect ratio (1:1)
  • High quality, no pixelation
  • No explicit content unless marked as explicit

Add Your Audio File

Include your track in WAV format

  • Format: WAV (uncompressed)
  • Sample Rate: 44.1kHz
  • Bit Depth: 16-bit
  • No clipping or distortion
  • Proper mastering levels (-14 LUFS recommended for streaming)

Create ZIP Archive

Compress all files into a single ZIP archive:

  • Select all files (metadata.txt, coverart.jpg, your_song.wav)
  • Right-click and create ZIP archive
  • Name it clearly (e.g., "ArtistName_SongTitle_Release.zip")

Upload to Cloud Storage

Upload your ZIP file to one of these platforms:

  • Dropbox - Create shareable link
  • catbox.moe - Anonymous file sharing
  • Google Drive, WeTransfer, or similar
  • Make sure the link is accessible and won't expire
